Job summary
Tenet Healthcare's Detroit Receiving Hospital seeks a Plant Ops/Facilities technician to maintain automated control systems, energy-efficient equipment, and remote monitoring. You may also perform welding and assist in major repairs across HVAC, refrigeration and fire-safety systems.
Under supervision, you will support preventive maintenance, install new components, and coordinate with maintenance engineers to ensure continuous operations at the Harper University/Hutzel facility in Detroit.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write and follow instructions; English speaking required.
- 1–2 years in industrial repair; welding or hospital equipment experience preferred.
- 5–8 years motor control; 5 years pneumatic and DDC controls; 3 years programming experience depending on area.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, installation and repair of automated control systems (HVAC, pneumatic tube, fire alarms, refrigeration).
- Generate programs/graphics to improve energy efficiency and remote monitoring of equipment.
- Coordinate work of engineers for major repairs across heating, cooling and related systems.
- May weld on various equipment as needed.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of maintenance, installation and repair duties which include, but are not limited to, maintaining automated control systems including heating and cooling, pneumatic tube systems, electronic and mechanical systems, fire alarm systems and refrigeration systems. May generate computer programs and graphics to maximize energy efficiency, remotely control equipment and to monitor and respond to observed fluctuations at remote sensor locations. May perform welding as needed on various equipment and systems. May coordinate work of maintenance engineers performing major repairs of equipment in various systems, such as heating, cooling, refrigeration, etc.
- Ability to read, write, follow written and oral instructions and speak English possess a certificate in Pneumatics and Hydraulics or in Climate Control Technology or combination of equivalent experience or possess an Associate's Degree in Electronics. 2. Depending on level and area of specialty, one to two years experience in either industrial repair work welding working with hospital equipment welding equipment or refrigeration or cooling systems repair. 3. May also require five to eight years motor control experience, five years pneumatic and DDC controls experience and three years computer programming experience, depending on area of specialty.
