Job Description and Requirements

Pesticide handlers work directly with pesticides mixing, loading and applying agrichemicals, complying with federal and state Worker Protection Standards. You need to know how to work safely, and the effective use of pesticides, along with posting in areas where pesticides have been applied.

• Reliable transportation
• Available to work Monday through Friday and occasional weekends as needs require
• Proficient in reading and writing in English to comply with Worker Protection Standard (WPS) documentation
• Mathematical competency and skills needed to calculate, measure and calibrate chemicals and equipment
• Work closely with Grower and yard supervisor
• Self-starter - will not need to be micro-managed
• Responsible for ensuring safe and timely applications of chemicals within the limits of laws and labels and with the interest of safety for our environment. You will be responsible for calculating and measuring chemical mixtures, calibrating equipment, safely handling all chemicals including pesticides and fertilizers, marking sprayed areas, and recording all chemical applications
• Knowledge of Integrated Pest Management practices to identify potential problems and determine the most effective treatment required. Ability to handle all equipment, including backpack sprayers up to 40 pounds. Experience preferred
• This is strenuous work requiring good vision, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and the ability to work all day in varying greenhouse and outdoor areas
• Applicants must be able to stand for long periods. All jobs are outside, and applicants must be willing to work in all types of weather and be exposed to the elements (wind, rain, dust, cold, humidity, extreme heat). Chemicals are applied in the nursery, and all employees are required to follow safety guidelines for chemical applications. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted and 100+ pounds with a dolly

Wages and Benefits

Hourly wages start at $17 depending on experience. Benefits for all full-time employees after 90 days include Company Assisted Healthcare, Dental and Vision, 401K, Life Insurance, and Sick Time.
