Job summary

Talen Energy is seeking a Plant Manager for the Waterford Energy Center, a 880 MW natural gas-fired facility in Waterford, OH. The role provides leadership to plant personnel and outside crews to maximize asset value, safety, reliability, and cost-effective performance.

You will develop and implement Operational Excellence initiatives, oversee safety, regulatory compliance (NERC, OSHA, EPA), manage budgets and schedules, and drive continuous improvement across maintenance and operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of power generation operation and maintenance experience.
• Experience leading in an operating power plant work environment.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles.
• Working knowledge of government regulations including OSHA, EPA, DEP, and NERC.
• Travel required: 5-15%.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and implement long-term business and operation strategies for the plant, which meet departmental and corporate goals.
• Manage the safety, environmental and NERC compliance activities at the plant to achieve corporate objectives in these areas.
• Promote a safety conscious work environment.
• Coordinate generation scheduling with Talen Marketing to derive maximum profitability for the station.
• Manage the overall operation and maintenance aspects of the plant in an efficient, cost-effective manner.
• Ensure operating standards are met or exceeded and that all required maintenance activities are completed in a cost effective and timely manner.
• Develop and manage the plant’s Operations and Maintenance budget and plant inventory.
• Identify and justify future capital projects that enhance bottom-line financial and operational performance.
• Lead the plant in efforts to identify and resolve problem areas.
• Provide contract administration for labor services and materials.
• Provide supervision, direction and leadership to the plant teams and individuals. This includes day to day supervision, individual development, goal setting, and performance management and recognition.
• Establish expectations and implement timely/complete communications to all plant personnel to provide information and increase understanding of plant performance; safety, environmental and financial performance; long-term strategies and initiatives; Corporate and department policies, etc.

Education

BS degree in engineering or equivalent experience
