Job summary

Quest Design & Millwork in Stafford, TX is seeking a Plant Manager to lead plant operations, drive production schedules, ensure safety, and optimize quality and efficiency. You will oversee a management team, coordinate across shifts, and align with company goals and budgets.

The role emphasizes asset protection, performance coaching, and coordinating maintenance, inventory, and QA initiatives to meet production targets.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of work experience as a production manager or equivalent is required.
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of UFP’s organization, culture, and product lines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, Epicor.
  • Forklift operator certification is required.
  • Working knowledge of shipping truck capacities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that plant assets are properly managed and safeguarded.
  • Staffs, develops, and coaches the production management team and evaluates performance.
  • Develops and approves production and shipping schedules and coordinates between shifts.
  • Oversees quality standards and implements quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors production levels, yield, scrap, and inventory to meet goals.
  • Manages maintenance activities and safety compliance.
  • Prepares reports and supports budget and expense tracking.

Job description

Quest Design & Millwork is a Stafford, Texas–based company specializing in turnkey environmental design for the homebuilding, multi-family, and development industries. They design, fabricate, and install sales centers, design centers, welcome centers, and other branded retail environments from small 250 sq ft color rooms to large 15,000 sq ft design centers. We're currently looking for a Plant Manager to join the team in Stafford, TX. The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management and coordination of plant operations consistent with cost, profit, quality, and productivity objectives. Works under the general direction of the Operations Manager.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures that all plant assets are properly managed and safeguarded.
  • Staffs, develops, and coaches the production management team, evaluates performance, and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Develops and/or approves the master production schedule and shipping schedule as well as coordinating production activities between shifts and other functions.
  • Assists in developing capital expenditure recommendations.
  • Establishes quality standards for operations and initiates and manages quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures the plant is properly staffed to meet production levels and goals.
  • Monitors plant output, cuts/yields and scrap to ensure efficient resource utilization and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Ensures appropriate production data is entered into the system.
  • Establishes the use of raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods and coordinates inventory requirements with management consistent with inventory levels/turnover goals and coordinates month-end inventories.
  • Responsible for ensuring the yard meets Company conditions and is laid out for efficient operations.
  • Analyzes production operations and initiates corrective actions to ensure efficient product flow.
  • Monitors expenses, reviews P&L and other financial and business documents to compare to budget and initiates corrective action as required.
  • Manages activities of the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensures the plant complies with HR Company policies and procedures and Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Participates as an active member of the plant Safety Committee and ensures that plant operations are consistent with Company and OSHA policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Prepares various reports as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
