Job summary

Aireon LLC is seeking a Plant Manager to direct, control, and coordinate all aspects of the SNG Plant to ensure a reliable, cost-effective supply of synthetic natural gas for the Island of Oahu. You will lead first-line management and collaborate with Senior Leadership to align department goals with Company Clean Energy initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Chemistry.
• 12+ years industry experience.
• 10+ years managing a manufacturing plant (i.e. petroleum, electricity, gas).
• Strong knowledge of plant safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience with emergency preparedness, response planning, incident management, and business/operational continuity in an industrial or utility environment.
• Experience developing and managing operating and capital budgets, monitoring expenditures and production costs, and identifying cost and operational efficiencies.
• Working experience in a union environment.
• Complete familiarity with the SNG manufacturing process.
• Excellent understanding of PSM and RMP regulations.
• Knowledge of local feedstock suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Oversees SNG plant activities, including supply coordination, gas production, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, facility maintenance, warehouse operations, and administration.
• Collaborates with Senior Leadership to develop department goals, priorities, and resourcing.
• Collaborates with EH&S to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible culture and work environment by establishing, adhering to, and enforcing EHS rules and procedures; overseeing incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions; ensuring EHS training is completed.
• Ensures overall efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations, identifying and implementing enhancements as needed.
• Develops and implements Emergency Response processes and contingencies, ensuring prompt response to emergencies and reliable Plant production.
• Defines operational objectives, staffing levels, and plans for SNG supply, renewable fuel integration, and compliance with regulations and company policies; enforces the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Responsible for integrating alternative source supplies with SNG Plant activities in support of the Company’s Clean Energy Initiatives.
• Manages personnel, including training, development, hiring, promotion, and discipline; may participate in Union negotiations.
• Prepares operating and capital budgets, monitors production costs, and develops performance metrics and policies.
• Manages budgets, monitors expenditures, and ensures compliance with regulations and best practices.
• Oversees special and large projects, including scheduled and emergency turnarounds.
• Stays current with industry laws, regulations, trends, and developments.
• Practice and communicate Desired Leadership Style; set expectations for subordinates.
• Uphold the organization’s code of conduct, confidentiality, asset protection, ethical behavior, and compliance.

The Plant Manager directs, controls, and/or coordinates personally and/or through first-line management, all aspects of the SNG Plant to ensure a reliable source of synthetic natural gas to supply the needs of the Island of Oahu that is cost effective and consistent with quality requirements. Responsible for integrating alternative source supplies with SNG Plant activities in support of the Company’s Clean Energy Initiatives. Responsible for meeting all company-defined compliance requirements impacting this activity. Subject to 24‑hour call‑out.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees SNG plant activities, including supply coordination, gas production, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, facility maintenance, warehouse operations, and administration.
• Collaborates with Senior Leadership to develop department goals, priorities, and resourcing.
• Collaborates with the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH& S) Department to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible culture and work environment by:
  • Establishing, adhering to, and enforcing EHS rules and procedures,
  • Overseeing the recording of incidents, analysis of root causes, and completion of corrective actions,
  • Ensuring all EHS Training of SNG Plant Personnel is completed.
• Ensures overall efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations, identifying and implementing enhancements as needed.
• Develops and implements Emergency Response processes and contingencies, ensuring prompt response to emergencies and reliable Plant production.

• Complies with all applicable corporate and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures.
• Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner.
• Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Chemistry.

Required Work Experience:

• 12+ years industry experience
• 10+ years successful experience managing a manufacturing plant (i.e. petroleum, electricity, gas).
• Strong working knowledge of operational assets and general business philosophies and practices.
• Experience with emergency preparedness, response planning, incident management, and business/operational continuity in an industrial or utility environment.
• Experience developing and managing operating and capital budgets, monitoring expenditures and production costs, and identifying cost and operational efficiencies.
• Strong knowledge of plant safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements, including applicable federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards.
• Working experience in a union environment.
• Complete familiarity with the SNG manufacturing process.
• Excellent understanding of PSM and RMP regulations.
• Knowledge of local feedstock suppliers.
