Responsibilities

  • Lead all plant departments to maintain safety, quality, and efficient production.
  • Coordinate production, distribution, and warehousing per policies.
  • Develop and implement plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and staff.
  • Review production costs and product quality; modify inventory control for profitability.
  • Direct preparation of production, HR and labor/cost records.
  • Recommend budgets to management.
  • Manage Pay for Skills program for production employees.
  • Maintain relationships with sales and customer service management.
  • Review financial performance to identify sales growth and cost savings.
  • Coordinate plant safety, environmental and training activities with HR.
  • Ensure regular and predictable attendance and lead subordinate supervisors.
  • Direct overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of plant units.
  • Comply with policies and applicable laws; train, assign, and evaluate staff.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Lead all departments in the plant to maintain safety, quality, and efficient production.
  • Coordinate production, distribution, and warehousing functions in accordance with established policies, principles, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement plans, policies and procedures for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Review and analyze production costs and product quality and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the plant.
  • Direct preparation of production, human resources and labor/costs records.
  • Recommend budgets to management.
  • Manage Pay for Skills program for production employees.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with sales management and customer service management.
  • Systematically review financial performance of the plant to recommend to management opportunities for sales growth and cost savings.
  • Coordinate plant safety, environmental and training activities in cooperation with the Human Resources Department.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Manages subordinate supervisors and/or production management who supervise all plant employees.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED plus college and/or appropriate technical courses.
  • Five years’ experience as a proven manager.
  • Ten years corrugated manufacturing experience.
  • College degree, preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.):
  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
  • Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
  • Budget development, adherence and analysis.
  • Quality standards.
  • Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES:
  • Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead and efficient meeting.
  • Teaching skills to function effectively as a teacher for his/her personnel both in the technical and administrative parts of the position.

  • Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understanding demonstrates positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques.
  • Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
  • Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative of the company.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
