Job summary

Ormat Technologies in Fallon, NV, seeks a Plant Manager to oversee all plant operations and maintenance, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, efficiency and reliability in line with contracts and policies.

You will lead operations, maintenance and engineering staff, manage budgets and staffing, coordinate with corporate management, and drive continuous improvement while complying with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Ten years of power industry or directly related industrial experience.
  • Minimum of five years of management experience.
  • Strong safety and environmental leadership skills.
  • Understanding of O&M, plant engineering, contracts and plant administration functions.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and direct varied programs and tasks.

  • Coordinate activities under O&M services contracts and supply agreements.
  • Maintain and train staff and communication programs; regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to drive equipment maintenance and repairs on schedule.

Job description

This position manages and oversees overall plant operations (and maintenance activities). The position is responsible for coordinating daily activities required to assure optimum plant performance, including safety, environmental compliance, efficiency and reliability in accordance with established contracts, agreements, policies and applicable safety, environmental and other regulatory laws and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Ensures plant compliance with safety, compliance and health regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the plant is operated within the terms and conditions of all contracts and agreements.
  • Oversees operating and technical staff, such as operation, maintenance and engineering personnel.
  • Highest authority at the plant on all Human Resource matters including hiring, promotion, disciplinary action and termination of personnel in coordination with plant supervisory team and Corporate management and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Minimizes operating errors by establishing investigation, communication and corrective action programs.
  • Responsible for making and/or approving major operating and maintenance decisions.
  • Completes equipment repairs and overhauls on schedule.
  • Maintains plant capacity rates by establishing an equipment performance program.
  • Responsible for managing costs by effective approval of expenditures, overtime and effective budget planning and tracking, variance reporting and work scheduling.
  • Coordinates activities under the applicable O&M services contracts and supply agreements.
  • Evaluates staffing levels and skill mix and makes appropriate adjustments within budgetary guidelines.
  • Coordinates and maintains plant training and communication programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, regional and local governing bodies and regulatory agencies.
  • Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous periods of time and read and understand maps.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays (or one or the other) when necessary.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  • Ten years of power industry or directly related industrial experience including a minimum of five years of management experience, with strong safety and environmental leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of power plant O&M, plant engineering, contracts and general plant business functions.
  • Understanding of accounting, contract administration, HR, procurement and other plant administration functions.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and direct varied and complex programs and tasks.
  • Ability to motivate employees to perform at a high level of efficiency and quality.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, efficiently balance competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines in a high-pressured environment.
  • Ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop alternatives and make or recommend sound decisions
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, specifications, sketches and technical documentation.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
  • Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier.
Physical Requirements
  • The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor and use repetitive motion for long periods of time.
  • The ability to lift 20 pounds periodically.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, work off of elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.
  • Must be able to correctly wear and work using self-contained breathing apparatus.
  • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
  • Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
