Blue Ridge Senior Living is seeking a versatile Maintenance Technician to care for the facility buildings and grounds, performing skilled and unskilled tasks across outdoor areas, lighting, halls, and resident rooms. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repairing equipment, inspecting systems, installing wiring and plumbing, and ensuring safety standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year in maintenance; hospital or long-term care

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines and building systems run smoothly.
  • Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and powertools.
  • Inspects drives, motors, belts, and fluids; performs maintenance actions per checklists.
  • Assembles, installs or repairs wiring, plumbing, and electrical components.
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems, references blueprints and manuals as needed.
  • Cleans and lubricates machinery; dismantles devices to access parts.
  • Performs general labor tasks as assigned; reports issues to supervisor.
  • Maintains safety standards and attends required meetings.

Job description

Provide assistance in the care of the facility buildings and grounds by performing a variety of skilled and unskilled maintenance and repair duties in assigned maintenance operations, which may include outdoor areas, lighting, facilities, common areas, hal lways, and resident rooms.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does notdeteriorate
  • Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts, using hand tools and powertools
  • Inspects drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, followingchecklists
  • Assembles, installs or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery andequipment
  • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs asnecessary
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts ofmachinery
  • Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
  • Performs preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment, materials, and supplies, loading and unloading materials, and laying out materials and equipment forprojects
  • Performs a variety of routine physical labor tasks, depending upon area of assignment, including posting general notices, pulling weeds, picking up litter, raking leaves and debris, planting, replacing light bulbs, and movingfurniture
  • Performs cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills, and debris cleaning work areas and performing touch up work asneeded
  • Sets up meeting areas for meetings andevents
  • Reports any issues or problems that may arise to the Plant & MaintenanceSupervisor
  • Complieswithstate,federal,andallotherapplicablehealthcareandsafetystandards
  • Attends in-services and other requiredmeetings
  • Assists families and other visitors asneeded
  • Performs other duties and tasks asassigned
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a maintenance position ; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred
