Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America's Toledo Ice Cream plant is hiring skilled plant maintenance mechanics to care for and maintain production assets. You will perform planned and unplanned maintenance on machinery across electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to keep operations running smoothly.

Starting pay is $35.53 per hour with a $0.50 hourly differential for 2nd/3rd shifts. Third-shift candidates are prioritized; some Saturdays may be required.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in manufacturing, preferably food & beverage.
• Experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, HVAC or computer‑controlled equipment.
• Welding experience (TIG) is required.
• Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.
• Comfortable working in cold, wet, noisy environments and lifting up to 50 lbs.

• Maintain and repair production, packaging, and processing equipment.
• Perform planned and unplanned maintenance on utilities and assets to keep operations running.
• Operate with safety and quality standards; pass pre‑employment screenings as required.

JOB SUMMARY

Toledo Ice Cream is a DFA company that has immediate job openings for skilled plant maintenance mechanics, responsible for the care and maintenance of all property and production assets. This position ensures the continued operation of machinery and equipment in an electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic and hydraulic capacity by completing planned and unplanned maintenance requirements on production, packaging, processing equipment and utility systems.

OUR MECHANICS MAKE:

• $35.53 per hour starting rate
• $0.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd/3rd shift openings
• $2.00 per hour shift premium after 2,000 hours worked with Company OR immediate with commensurate skill-set

AVAILABLE SHIFTS:

All – 5 days/week (8‑10 hours/day)

Third shift currently priority – will be interviewing 3rd shift candidates first.

Some Saturdays may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED preferred; formal engineering/maintenance training a plus
• 1+ year maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (food & beverage preferred)
• 1+ year hands‑on experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, HVAC, or computer‑controlled equipment
• Experience with industrial equipment (lubrication, material handling, motor/relay/process control, packaging)
• TIG welding experience required
• Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred
• Basic math skills and proficiency with hand tools
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, climb and lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working in cold, wet, noisy environments with potential exposure to chemicals or allergens
• Willing to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays
• Must pass all pre‑employment screenings
