Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic to oversee maintenance at two sites, performing repairs on aggregate plant equipment and diesel-powered loaders, screens, and conveyors.

You will troubleshoot and rebuild components, plan weekly tasks with management, and perform preventative maintenance while supporting plant operations and safety.

A strong background in heavy equipment, CAT/John Deere gear, and a valid CDL are required; competitive hourly pay and union benefits apply.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience with sand and gravel screening plant operations.
• Strong knowledge of aggregate processing equipment, conveyors, shakers, pumps, and gearboxes.
• Welding/fabricating experience (2-3 years minimum).
• Experience with upgrades and aggregate plant rebuilds.
• Proven stockpiling experience in tight or confined areas.
• Knowledge of motors, engines, drivetrains, hydraulics.
• Experience with Caterpillar and John Deere equipment preferred.
• A valid CDL with a clear driving record.
• Safety-focused work history and ability to work independently.
• Fluent in English for business communication.
• Comfortable with technology and common office software.

Position Description

Serve as the Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic responsible for the maintenance operations at two sites. Perform mechanical repairs on aggregate plant and diesel-powered mobile equipment including loaders, screens, and conveyors. Troubleshoot, rebuild, install, and maintain heavy equipment and plant components. Schedule and plan weekly tasks in collaboration with plant management. Perform preventative maintenance on fixed and mobile equipment. Operate loaders to load haul trucks as needed and to support plant operations. Housekeeping at both plants, loaders, and the shop.

Requirements

• 10-year experience with sand and gravel screening plant operations required.
• Requires strong knowledge of aggregate processing equipment, conveyors, shakers (vibrating screens), pumps and gearboxes.
• Welding/fabricating experience required (2-3 years minimum).
• Experience with equipment upgrades/ aggregate plant rebuilds.

• Sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment

Union

We are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $56.83. Membership with the Engineers 003-OKL is required upon hire. Condition and terms of employment and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
