Job summary

Armstrong Utilities is hiring for an outside plant technician to build and maintain underground and aerial HFC and FTTH networks. You will splice coax and fiber, read design prints, and work aloft using climbing gear in all weather conditions.

The role requires frequent travel and overnight stays, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and teamwork. A high school diploma or GED and a PA driver’s license are mandatory, with CDL w/ airbrakes preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid PA driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to obtain Class A CDL w/ airbrakes and endorsements as needed.
• Must be physically capable of heavy lifting and climbing.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction and maintenance of underground and aerial HFC and FTTH plant.
• Splice coax, fiber, and related components.
• Read and interpret HFC/FTTH design prints.
• Climb poles using proper gear and work aloft with safety.
• Operate bucket trucks, forklifts, backhoes, and trenchers.
• Travel and stay away from home for extended periods as required.
• Maintain logs and inventory paperwork.
• Follow Armstrong safety policies and standards.

Position Summary:The successful candidate must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and will be responsible for the outside plant maintenance and construction, underground and aerial, of CATV and Telco facilities. This is a physically demanding job that requires a willingness to work in an outside environment in all weather conditions.
