Job summary

DELTA STEEL in Cedar Hill, TX seeks a Leadman to work with Shift Supervisors and staff to maximize production safely and improve quality from inbound materials to outbound shipments.

You will coordinate production schedules, supervise warehouse tasks, coach staff, ensure safety, and maintain inter-shift communication while driving yard operations as needed.

Strong independence, multitasking, and mentoring abilities are required to lead a team in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years industrial material handling experience.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong multitasking and time management skills.
• Ability to think conceptually and solve problems effectively.
• Proven mentorship capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate production with the Shift Supervisor and warehouse personnel; assist with scheduling, processing, traffic coordination, and overtime planning.
• In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, supervise the shift to meet production goals.
• Perform warehouse department tasks as needed to cover backlog or absences.
• Coordinate and communicate with Truck Drivers as necessary; maintain inter-shift communications.
• Review and enforce proper paperwork and procedures regarding production and personnel.
• Drive yard truck moving and organizing trailers for loading orders.

Job Summary

Job Function

• Work in conjunction with the Shift Supervisor with warehouse personnel (including assisting with coaching, performance reviews, training/re‑training, rewarding/disciplinary actions, handle conflict management/resolution, vacations and/or overtime scheduling).
• Assist the Shift Supervisor in coordinating production (including time scheduling, supporting processing schedules, support scheduling with traffic department – CPU’s, receiving, controlling overtime)
• In the absence of the Shift Supervisor, supervise the shift to meet production goals.
• Performance of any/all Warehouse Department tasks as required by the absence of a department member or due to the existence of a backlog of work.
• Coordinate and communicate with Truck Drivers as necessary.
• Maintain complete inter-shift communications
• Review/enforce proper paperwork and procedures regarding production and personnel.
• HR/Safety manager will work closely with and assist shift manager and shift supervisors regarding all legal, safety and personnel issues.
• Maintain a high level of safety during shift.
• Coordinate work order and other paperwork flow as required.
• Drive yard truck moving and organizing trailers into warehouse for loading order for shipment to customers.
• Assist with implementation and enforcement of all company policies/procedures with General Managers, HR Manager and Shift Managers.
• Work closely with other shifts/applicable managers on all major decisions.
• Identify weaknesses in any areas and ways to improve production/safety/quality/personnel processes.
• The shift supervisor and shift management team will be in charge and responsible for all warehouse/production issues and decisions.
• Promote and practice all company policies and procedures with an emphasis on safety.
