The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Plant Health Care Technician to join its outdoor-focused team in Gaithersburg, MD. This on-site role involves fertilizing, pest management, diagnosing plant health issues and educating clients about services.

You will work with tree and shrub care professionals and operate equipment, while developing specialized plant health skills through the Davey training program.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping preferred.
• Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID, Pathology and turf/tree physiology knowledge preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Qualified Plant Health Care Tech training upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Performs fertilization and pest management on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools.
• Educates clients on diagnosis and prescribed pest control and fertilization services.
• Continuously monitor plant health quality and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive, use, maintain and properly operate equipment (truck and sprayer).

Job Duties

• Performs fertilization and pest management on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools by performing the following duties
• Cultivate your career and fertilize your future!
• Properly identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions and pest prone areas.
• Communicate with and educate the client regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control and fertilization service with customers.
• Continuously monitor plant heath quality and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive, use, maintain and properly operate equipment (truck and sprayer).
