The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Plant Health Care Technician to perform fertilization and pest management for trees, shrubs, and lawns on-site at Fraziers Bottom, WV. The role emphasizes client education, health monitoring, and safe operation of equipment.

Qualifications include love of the outdoors with forestry/ horticulture background and preferred turf/ID knowledge. Training and safety courses are provided on hire.

• Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping preferred.
• Turf, weed, and tree/shrub ID knowledge preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Plant Health Care Tech training on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.

Responsibilities

• Fertilize and pest-manage trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools.
• Identify insects, weeds, fungus and pest-prone areas.
• Educate clients about diagnoses and prescribed pest control and fertilization services.
• Monitor plant health and fertilizing methods and report progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive and operate equipment (truck and sprayer).

Job Duties

• Cultivate your career and fertilize your future!
• Properly identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions and pest prone areas.
• Communicate with and educate the client regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control and fertilization service with customers.
• Continuously monitor plant health quality and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive, use, maintain and properly operate equipment (truck and sprayer).

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping
• Preferred: Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID, Pathology and knowledge of turf or tree physiology
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Qualified Plant Health Care Tech training program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
