Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Plant Health Care Technician in Needham, MA to work outdoors with a team of landscape professionals. Your daily view changes as you inspect and diagnose plants, educate clients, and apply fertilization and pest management on trees and shrubs.

You will drive and operate service equipment, monitor results, and communicate progress to customers and supervisors. Davey offers paid time off, health plans, a 401(k) with company match, and employee ownership

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in horticulture or landscaping preferred.
• ID knowledge for turf, weeds, trees, and shrubs preferred.
• Driver's license required; DOT med card may be needed.
• Pesticide licenses and state requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify insects, pests, and disease conditions affecting plants.
• Explain diagnoses and prescribed treatments to clients.
• Apply fertilization and integrated pest management on trees and shrubs.
• Monitor pest control and fertilization methods after application and report progress.
• Operate and maintain truck and sprayer equipment.

Compensation

$26.00 - $34.00 hourly, based on experience

Job Duties

What You’ll Do

• Cultivate your career and fertilize your future!
• Properly identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions, and pest prone areas.
• Communicate with and educate the client regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control, and fertilization service with customers.
• Perform the prescribed fertilization and integrated pest management on tree and shrubs using spray and injection tools.
• Continuously monitor the pest control and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to customers and supervisors.
• Drive, use, maintain and properly operate truck and sprayer equipment.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Horticulture or Landscaping
• Preferred: Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID knowledge
• Ability to complete the Davey landscape career development books upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Valid driver’s license (ability to get DOT med card upon hire)
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
