Job summary

Teknor Apex in Rhode Island is seeking a hands-on mechanical technician to keep production lines moving. You will inspect bearings, scan for wear on drives, plan first repairs, and perform machining on vertical mills to restore design throughput.

You’ll document work using your computer skills and participate in continuous improvement on the shop floor. The successful candidate will read prints, diagnose bearing failures, service drive systems, ensure equipment and tools are safe and secure, and

Qualifications

• Knowledge of mechanical systems.
• 3–5 years of practical experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production and facilities equipment so it operates at design efficiency and throughput.
• Perform hands-on mechanical work, including machining on vertical mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
• Read prints and perform layout; diagnose bearing failures and service mechanical drive systems.
• Ensure the shop, equipment, and tools are safe, well-maintained, and properly secured.
• Be available for on‑call needs and work overtime as required.

Job description

Be the force that keeps production moving Step onto the floor at Teknor Apex and your day begins with a walk-through of critical production lines. You listen for the subtle hum of healthy bearings, scan for wear on mechanical drives, and plan your first repair. By mid-morning you’re machining a precision component on a vertical mill to return a line to design throughput. After lunch, you’re reviewing prints, diagnosing a bearing failure, and fine-tuning a pneumatic circuit so equipment runs at peak efficiency. Before you leave, you secure tools, verify machine guards, and document work using your computer skills—ready to answer an on‑call request if production needs you.
