Job summary

Bachem Americas in Torrance, CA, seeks a Plant Engineer to lead site technical operations, ensuring reliability and continuous improvement of manufacturing facilities and infrastructure. You will drive maintenance planning, major projects, and GMP compliance, collaborating with TechOps, Operational Excellence, and Engineering teams.

The role requires strong analytical thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and fluency in German and English, along with extensive CMMS and ERP knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or comparable discipline.
• 6+ years' experience in a GMP-regulated environment.
• 4+ years in a manufacturing facility.
• Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and manage cross-functional interfaces.
• Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical plant design, construction, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of maintenance strategy, CMMS master data, spare parts management, and budget control.
• Very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Economically and efficiently maintain the operational readiness of the plant while meeting HSE/GMP requirements.
• Own the maintenance strategy and planning for all production facilities at the site.
• Instruct, organize, implement, and monitor maintenance activities; manage budgets and spare parts.
• Manage small and medium-sized projects from idea through commissioning and qualification.
• Ensure GMP, safety, environmental, and energy-use compliance; promote good housekeeping.
• Serve as the first technical contact for the site; monitor project budgets and schedules.
• Drive technical innovations with TechOps and Engineering to reduce costs and improve availability.
