Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Council Bluffs seeks a Plant Engineer to lead maintenance and reliability across the facility, including ammonia refrigeration and plant utilities. You will manage Automation, Electrical and Instrumentation teams, drive preventive maintenance via SAP CMMS, and develop staff through hands-on leadership and training.

You will partner with Operations, Procurement, QA and Shipping to hit KPI targets, perform Root Cause Analysis and guide safety and ergonomic requirements across

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in industrial maintenance with 5+ years in food processing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration and sanitary maintenance.
• PSM/RMP and SAP experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience and leadership ability.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance execution for the Council Bluffs facility including utilities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, support and direct the Maintenance execution activities inthe Council Bluffs, IAFacility supporting plant operations, plant utilities including Ammonia Refrigeration and maintenance training program.
• Oversee the success of the facilities Preventative Maintenance program through guidance and follow through, with SAP as the CMMS platform.
• Will oversee our Automation Technicians. Responsible for Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation and Reliability working with multiple skill sets and talents. Electrical team responsible for daily plant support, plant electrical systems testing, utilizing data to establish proactive additional testing, including large electrical main distribution systems redesign and replacement projects.
• Responsible for the leadership, management, and development of 2 Maintenance Supervisors and a Maintenance Planning Supervisor.
• Develop the department through recruitment and team member development on fundamental engineering principles,with utilization of maintenance training program.
• Align with Corporate Engineering to ensure standardization and best practice sharing of engineering processes.
• Partner with all functionaldepartments (Operations, Procurement, QA and Shipping) to accomplish departmentalKPI’s
• Lead thedepartmentwith technical leadership and facilitation of Root Cause Analysis, Focused Improvement and FMEA (Failure Modes Effects Analysis)
• Lead in the development of Start Up planning with department to identify all additional labor requirements, scrap produced and start up inefficiencies.
• Support the team in the new projects development and participate in execution with proper technical documentation, training, and spare partslists.
• Partner with EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) on safety and ergonomic requirements to all equipment and layouts
• Communicate effectively both internally and externally within JBS and with vendors.
• May perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of progressively more responsible positions within industrial maintenance field and minimum five (5) years within a food processing industry
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Extensive background in ammonia refrigeration, air compressor technology, variable frequency motor controls, maintenance of sanitary conditions. Job responsibilities typically require extended hours.
• PSM/RMP experience preferred
• SAP experience preferred
• Must be able to demonstrate effective people skills
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with basic office software (word and excel)
• Supervisory skills – maintenance management through whom both direct and indirect people report, project administrative assistant and planners.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred but a combination of education and or work experience will be considered.
• Experience of proven food processing/manufacturing experience in electrical, electronics, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatics is required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Fast-paced environment

• Ability to work within area temperatures under 40°F or Over 80°F
• Exposure to various chemicals, machinery, and knives
• Slippery floors, extreme temperatures and loud noises
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Schedule M-F and weekends when needed
