Job summary

The Plant Electricians support operations of We Energies plants by normal and special maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all plant electrical systems including installation of new equipment, modification, and upgrading of existing equipment and isolating and restoring plant and substation equipment. You will work a rotating 12hr shift that includes weekends and holidays.

The pay range reflects union contracts and varies by experience and level; starting rates are based on experience.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Card required.
• 2-year associate degree in electrical/electronics.

Responsibilities

• Ordering/collecting of material and determine scope of job.
• Provide information needed for bidding and planning jobs.
• Cut, thread, bend, install electrical conduit and associated hardware, raceways, breakers, switches, motors, contactors, lighting fixtures, modules, electronic boards, pull wire, install fiber optic cable, computer hardware and software, communication systems, etc.
• Using various test devices and monitoring equipment, collect and record pertinent data for the purpose of monitoring equipment conditions.
• Isolate and pinpoint system fault(s) or malfunction by analyzing information supplied by other personnel, observing symptoms, printing findings and readings, and comparing to knowledge of normal operation.
• Using the protective tag procedure, operate circuit breakers (ACB’s, OCB’s, GCB’s), disconnects, safety switches, fuses, etc.
• Troubleshoot, repair, start-up, modify, and program PLC’s (program logic controllers) and DCS’s (digital control systems).

Current pay rangeJourneylevel: $51.59 - $63.47/hr. subject to change based on union contract (starting rate will be based on experience level).

Current pay range Apprenticelevel: $25.36 - $46.82/hr. subject to change based on union contract (starting rate will be based on experience level).

Minimum Qualifications

• Plant Electrician Requires Journeyman Card

Preferred Qualifications

• 2- year associate degree in electrical/electronics

Testing Requirements

Maintenance Selection System (MASS) - Other level: Ability to understand basic mechanical principles, visualize proper assembled form of objects, read and comprehend technical material; and skill in working basic mathematical problems. Suggested Preparation: Review basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, fractions) and review basic mechanical principles.

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future.
