Job summary

Malarkey Roofing Products is seeking a Plant Controls Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will partner with the Plant Engineer to develop, design, and execute capital, expense, and maintenance projects, focusing on safe, profitable, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include evaluating processes in asphalt product manufacturing, calibrating equipment, supporting scale-up, and driving data-driven improvements in efficiency, output, and safety while upholding Amrize PPE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Five to seven years of experience in a continuous manufacturing plant.
• Strong knowledge of controls and their impact on equipment.
• Experience with process control systems and predictive maintenance techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develops, designs, and justifies capital and expense projects and prepares business cases.
• Evaluate and monitor processes and operating systems for asphalt product manufacture; support trials.
• Calibrate equipment and monitor maintenance; support scaling of processes.
• Improve efficiency, output, and safety through data collection and analysis.
• Promote safety culture and adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.

About The Role

The Plant Controls Engineer works closely with the Plant Engineer to provide technical expertise for the development, design, and execution of capital, expense, and maintenance projects in a safe, profitable, timely, and efficient manner.

What You'll Accomplish

• Develops, designs, performs cost estimation, justification, and prepares business cases for capital and expense projects.
• Evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of asphalt products, including supporting or leading trials.
• Equipment calibration and maintenance monitoring.
• Support the conversion of older-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
• Monitor and improve the efficiency, output, and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements, as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering

Required Work Experience: Five to seven years of experience in a continuous manufacturing plant.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of controls and their impact on the equipment.
• Solid project management skills.
• Experience working with design software.
• Thorough and demonstrated understanding of process control systems.
• Understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize-approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees who are required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
