Job summary

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in Rutherfordton, NC seeks a Plant Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, and accounting policy implementation at a manufacturing site. This role partners with plant management to optimize operating results and drive process improvements across budgeting, costing, and inventory control.

The successful candidate will have extensive manufacturing accounting experience, SAP proficiency, and strong Excel/Power BI skills, with a track record in end‑to‑end

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, cost accounting preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment with previous supervisory experience.
• Experience in SAP.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, Power BI is a plus.
• Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Excel (Lookups, Pivot Tables, Macros, Formulas, Power Query).
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and finance to ensure accurate monthly financial reporting, audits, and budgets.
• Input data using automated systems and supervise trial balance maintenance.
• Manage month/quarter/year end closing and ensure compliance with financial policies.
• Maintain fixed asset reporting, budgeting, spend management, and capitalization.
• Review cost and variance trends and recommend responses.
• Prepare operating performance analysis including inventory movements and COGS.
• Maintain SAP product standard costs and costing accuracy.
• Review new BOMs and Routers for costing accuracy.
• Evaluate cost review requests and conduct operating impact analysis.
• Prepare cost estimates for new products and variations.
• Perform monthly inventory valuation and manage cycle counting.
• Assist in operating forecasts against budgets and analyze variations.
• Set labor and overhead rates in line with budgets.
• Conduct annual cost roll and inventory revaluation and collaborate with purchasing.

About The Job

Reporting to the North America - Controller, the PlantControlleris responsible for all phases of accounting, financial reporting, and other financial activities for a manufacturing site. The Plant Controller will assist in the continual development and improvement of business processes as well as implementation of accounting policies and procedures, while working with plant management to optimize operating results.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the activities of Accounting and Finance to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting including internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets


• Uses automated systems to input data, reconcile transactions and oversees trial balance maintenance


• Manages month end/quarter end/year end closing activities and ensures compliance with Trelleborg financial reporting policies


• Manages fixed asset reporting, including budgeting, spend management, and asset capitalization


• Reviews cost and variance trends; researching significant variations and recommending appropriate response


• Prepares daily operating performance analysis; including inventory movements, sales, and cost of goods sold, to identify significant issues in a timely fashion


• Maintains and updates product standard cost in SAP


• Reviews new BOMs and Routers submitted for costing accuracy


• Evaluates and approves cost review requests, including operating impact analysis


• Prepares cost estimates for new products and cost variations of existing products


• Performs monthly inventory valuation


• Manages inventory processes including cycle counting


• Assists in preparing and monitoring of operating forecasts based on budgets. Review significant variations and analyze operating impact


• Establishes labor and overhead rates in line with operating budgets


• Performs annual cost roll and inventory revaluation. Works with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components


• Assists shared service center function with information and/or analysis when requested

Travel Requirements

• Minimal travel required


• Hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite. Audits and company reviews may require more weekly onsite time.
