Job summary

Confidential Employer in North Atlanta is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to lead all plant-level accounting functions and drive accurate financial reporting tied to production activity.

You will partner with operations to strengthen cost accounting, inventory integrity, and process improvements while ensuring GAAP compliance and successful audits. A strong manufacturing background and ERP experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 3–5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
• Strong manufacturing experience, including cost and inventory accounting.
• ERP experience in a manufacturing environment required.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all plant accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, and fixed assets.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with focus on accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain ownership of the general ledger and reconciliations.
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and supported.
• Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliation, and physical inventory processes.
• Partner with plant operations to align financial reporting with production activity.

Position Overview:

The Plant Controller will play a critical leadership role overseeing all accounting functions within the plant, ensuring compliance with GAAP, supporting operational decision-making, and driving continuous improvement across financial processes. This individual will act as a key partner to plant leadership while also serving as the primary contact for external audits.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, and fixed assets
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain ownership of the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and completeness
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts fully reconciled and supported

Inventory & Cost Accounting

• Oversee inventory accounting, including valuation, reconciliation, and physical inventory processes
• Ensure accurate accounting for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
• Support standard costing, variance analysis, and product costing accuracy
• Partner closely with plant operations to align financial reporting with production activity

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 3–5+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams
• Strong manufacturing experience, including cost and inventory accounting required
• Experience supporting plant operations strongly preferred
• ERP experience in a manufacturing environment required
• CPA preferred
