Job summary

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Plant Accountant at our manufacturing plant in Elkhart, Indiana.

This role focuses on analyzing and overseeing product line accounting, including reports, cost creation, and financial analysis while coordinating with corporate departments and senior management. You will provide accounting support on a product line basis and contribute to ongoing process improvements in a stable manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with Accounting Focus.
• 2+ years of accounting or costing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Prior experience with SAP, preferred.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.

Responsibilities

• Verify accuracy of department financial statements on a monthly basis.
• Prepare journal entries as needed to support the product line.
• Analyze and maintain quoting and production materials for consumer product operations.
• Prepare monthly scheduling that analyzes the performance of various product lines.
• Prepare monthly P&L analysis for review by management.
• Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures under the direction of the Senior Cost Accountant.
• Prepare schedules for corporate distribution.
• Ad hoc projects as required.

This position is responsible for analyzing and maintaining accounting oversight of product lines which will include preparation and analysis of reports, cost creation, financial analysis and frequent communication with various corporate departments, plant locations, and senior management. Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Plant Accountant, you will be expected to provide accounting support on a product line basis.

Additional responsibilities as Accountant will include:

Skills/ Requirements:

• 2+ years of accounting or costing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment, flexible upon experience gained while in college
• Working knowledge of GAAP
• Prior experience with SAP, preferred
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
• Strong attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to travel to plant locations up to 10%
• Ability to work successfully in a team environment in close proximity to co-workers and office personnel

Hours: The normal work hours for this position is Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm with a one-hour lunch break, plus occasional work at other times to support plant inventory.
