Job summary

Meijer is hiring an entry-level Stocking Clerk in Illinois. You will ensure shelves are stocked, assist customers with product knowledge, and support merchandising tasks to keep the store running smoothly.

You’ll be paid weekly and receive benefits including medical/dental/vision, a 401(k) with company contributions, paid parental leave, education assistance, and other development programs for advancement.

Qualifications

• Comfortable learning and using basic technology.
• Organized and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to work as part of a team and support shared goals.
• Capable of performing physical tasks (lift up to 50 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Stock shelves with a variety of food and grocery products.
• Move product from pallets or carts to shelves accurately.
• Pull backstock and dispose of cardboard and trash in back-room areas.
• Work with leadership to complete assigned areas on time.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Provide friendly, respectful interactions with customers.
• Work overnight shifts to prepare the store for the day ahead.
• Support other tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

As a Stocking Clerk, you play a critical role in keeping our store running smoothly. Your work ensures shelves are fully stocked for our customers to provide an exceptional shopping experience. You’ll:

• Stock shelves with a variety of food and grocery products
• Move product from pallets or carts to the correct shelf locations efficiently and accurately
• Pull backstock and dispose of cardboard and trash in designated back‑room areas
• Work closely with leadership to ensure assigned areas are completed on time
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Provide friendly, respectful interactions with customers when needed
• Work overnight shifts to prepare the store for the day ahead
• Support other tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly

What You Bring

• You’re comfortable learning and using basic technology
• You follow processes and procedures in an organized, efficient way
• You stay calm and productive in a fast‑paced environment

• Experience with pallet jacks or forklifts is a plus
• You have the ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods

We are committed to offering competitive pay that reflects market standards and ensures consistency within our organization. This job has a step pay plan that generally starts between the rates below with raises occurring after predetermined hours worked. The actual rate offered will meet or surpass the legal wage requirement for the job's location. $15.00 - $16.50
