Job summary

City of La Porte is seeking a Planning Manager to oversee zoning review, plats, site plans and development projects, aligning with the comprehensive plan and land use regulations. This full-time role focuses on guidance and technical support to the Department Director.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Urban Planning, a Master’s and AICP preferred, 5 years’ urban planning experience with 2 in supervision, and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning required.
• Master’s Degree and AICP Certification preferred.
• Five years of urban planning experience, with at least two in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Review zoning regulations and site plans for compliance.
• Interpret and revise zoning and development ordinances.
• Coordinate with civic, business, and citizen groups.
• Input project data into SunGard Naviline and track status.
• Supervise Planning Technician and assist department staff.
• Represent the department at planning meetings and council meetings.
