Nature of Work

This position represents the first practical contact a prospective planner makes with the profession and will offer observation and analysis of a wide variety of projects and issues related to planning and land use regulations.

The position requires observation, input, and assistance with various projects in land use. The successful applicant will work with the city staff and public; city codes and maps to determine parcel locations, ownership, zoning, flood zones, aerial photography, and historic districts; and may have to convey this information to the public courteously and timely. Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task are a must, as well as a positive attitude and eagerness to serve the public.
