  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Planning, Urban Studies, or related discipline with at least two years completed.
  • Recent grads may apply if enrolled in the bachelor’s degree term in the most recent term with intent to pursue an advanced degree.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 7-8, 2026.This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027.

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm,where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Philadelphia office.This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is seeking a Planning Intern to join our team in Philadelphia, PA. The intern will work under the direction of a team of transportation, environmental planning, urban design, and public involvement professionals to support a variety of different planning projects throughout the region.

This position is expected to begin in January 2027.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with report research, writing and setup.
  • Visualization, mapping, and document design support.
  • Support for in-person or virtual public outreach, including venue selection, minutes, and preparation of public-facing communications.
  • Data management.
  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Studies, or another related disciplineand must have completed at least 2 years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn on the job and apply theory in a practical setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
  • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Philadelphia, PA. The selected candidate must be available to work in Philadelphia, PAon a scheduled basis.

To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
