Job summary

Komatsu in Milwaukee seeks a Planner/Scheduler I to support planning and scheduling of service parts for domestic and international customers, field offices, and warehouses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or related experience in operations/supply chain.
• 1–3 years of production planning or scheduling experience preferred.
• Proficiency with SAP R/3 and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• ISM or APICS certification preferred (CPIM/CPM/CSCP).

Responsibilities

• Manage service-parts inventory to support stock turns and service levels.
• Analyze global frequency reports to maintain planning forecasts and schedules.
• Schedule manufacturing orders based on OEM and customer requirements.
• Support on-time delivery and inventory turn-rate goals.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure on-time delivery of parts.
• Provide planning support and training for Komatsu locations.
• Develop and maintain global planning procedures and work instructions.
• Act as a primary contact for assigned regions to promote consistent planning practices.

Job Overview

The Planner/Scheduler I will support the planning and scheduling of service parts for domestic and international customers, field offices, and warehouses. This role helps ensure parts availability, accurate delivery dates, inventory performance, and customer satisfaction.

The Planner/Scheduler I works cross-functionally with Regional Support, OEM production planners, Engineering, Traffic, Warehousing, Purchasing, Resource Planning, and Factory Expediting to coordinate service-part requirements and support on-time delivery. This role also provides planning support and training to assigned Komatsu locations and contributes to consistent global planning processes, procedures, and work instructions.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Manage service-parts inventory to support appropriate stock turns, minimize excess inventory, and maintain effective parts support for customer equipment.
• Analyze global frequency reports to maintain planning forecasts and schedule service parts for domestic and international customers, field offices, and warehouses.
• Schedule manufacturing orders based on OEM and customer requirements, purchasing lead times, and production capacity to support accurate customer due dates.
• Support corporate on-time delivery and inventory turn-rate goals.
• Identify opportunities to reduce excess and obsolete inventory and support annual excess and obsolete inventory reduction goals.
• Serve as a liaison between Regional Support, OEM production planning, Engineering, Traffic, Warehousing, Purchasing, Resource Planning, and Factory Expediting to coordinate the on-time delivery of parts.
• Provide planning support and training for assigned Komatsu locations.
• Support the development and maintenance of global planning procedures and work instructions.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned regions and work collaboratively to promote consistent planning practices and support company goals.
• Apply fundamental planning techniques and develop working knowledge of SAP forecasting methods, excess and obsolete inventory reporting, exception messages, error reports, MRP, bills of materials, routings, material masters, scheduling, production processes, and product information.
• Understand the basic SAP processes and system jobs related to planning activities.
• Promote safe working practices and provide direction, when appropriate, to support a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Inventory Management, or a related field; equivalent work experience will also be considered.
• One to three years of production planning or scheduling experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Proficiency with SAP R/3.
• ISM or APICS certification preferred, such as CPIM, CPM, or CSCP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated project management and leadership capabilities.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
