Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures in Clinton, IL is seeking a Planner/Scheduler to optimize shop floor production by creating detailed schedules, managing material requirements, and coordinating resources to meet deadlines.

You’ll analyze drawings, estimate labor hours, monitor workflows for welding and machining, and collaborate with sales, engineering, and production to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of scheduling/planning experience in manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in metal fabrication, welding, and machining processes is preferred.
• Strong skills with ERP/MRP systems, CMMS, and scheduling software (MS Project, Excel) and ability to read blueprints/BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules (master schedule) to align with customer delivery dates.
• Analyze technical data, including drawings and specs, to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and minimize downtime.
• Estimate and manage labor hours, tools, and material requirements to ensure personnel and equipment are available.
• Collaborate with purchasing to ensure raw materials arrive on time and inventory levels support uninterrupted production.
• Monitor performance data against plan, prepare reports, and identify bottlenecks.
• Adjust schedules to handle delays, shortages, or rush orders.

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Planner/Scheduler for our new location in Clinton, IL. The Scheduler/Planner optimizes shop floor production by creating detailed schedules, managing material requirements, and coordinating resources to meet deadlines. You’ll be required to analyze drawings, estimate labor hours, and monitor workflows for welding and machining operations, ensuring seamless communication between sales, engineering, and production teams to maximize efficiency.

Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. What You’ll Do:

What You’ll Need:

• HS diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of experience in scheduling, planning, or a similar role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
• Proven experience in metal fabrication, welding, and machining processes
• Strong skills in ERP/MRP systems, CMMS, and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Excel)
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with internal stakeholders of varying levels
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects simultaneously
