Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Planning; experience in a planning position preferred.
  • AICP licensure preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in basic planning principles and ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); skills in Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp a plus.
  • Reliable transportation and availability for evening meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Senior Planner, Section Director, and Executive Director as applicable.
  • Prepares planning, zoning, and specialized plans and studies.
  • Produces GIS maps and GIS-related projects.
  • Reviews land use, demographics, and related data to assess conditions and trends.
  • Reviews subdivision and land development proposals and prepares comments.
  • Produces graphic products including maps, sketches, 3D simulations, and site plans.
  • Assists with community planning analyses and public presentations.
  • Attends meetings with staff, officials, and agencies; liaises with Planning Commission and municipal officials.
  • Coordinates with staff on projects and grant applications.
