Job summary

Novanta Inc. is seeking a Production Planning professional to determine material specifications, maintain inventory schedules, and coordinate with internal teams while managing external stakeholder relations.

The role focuses on complex fulfillment, production plans, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a business/technical field (or equivalent) and 2+ years in manufacturing or production planning, with APICS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production and fulfillment plans.

• Expedite finished goods to support customer orders.
• Collaborate on production and transportation decisions in stock/out-of-stock scenarios.

Summary

This job is responsible fordetermining material specifications,creatingand maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for complex fulfillment and production plans
• Participate in system or process improvement initiatives to ensure the function has the best tools
• Review and revise production and fulfillment plans as required by changes in the manufacturing schedules
• Act as a liaison between Manufacturing, Customer Care, Sales and Product Management, communicating and troubleshooting issues, problems, and concerns
• Analyzes production plans and inventory reports, availability / requirements for long lead time items to provide production guidance to the manufacturing sites.
• Assist in the expediting finished goods, when necessary, to support customer order fulfillment
• Recommend and implement production and transportation actions when products are in out-of-stock or allocation situations.
• Partners with management/departments on matters related to production or fulfillment planning.
• Must maintain a well-balanced focus between external and internal customer requirements and possesses.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

• Bachelor's Degree in a business or technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years' experience in manufacturing, production management or production planning
• American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification (preferred)
• Proven ability to ensure material availability, while reducing inventory and increasing inventory turns.
• Systematic approach to analyzing and reducing the supply base to achieve maximize EOQ purchasing for cost effectiveness
• Team player with strong computer, written, verbal and skills
• Ability to multitask and manage changing business conditions is essential
• Previous experience with opto-electronics and PCB commodities,
• Working experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma environments
• International purchasing & planning experience a plus
• Understand and participate in the SIOP (Sales Inventory Operations Planning) process.
