Job summary

University of Alaska Museum of the North is seeking a Planetarium Education Outreach Specialist to engage K-12 groups and volunteers. You will help connect youth with inspiring experiences in the new planetarium and lead youth programming, including a space science themed summer camp.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organizational skills, and collaboration within a multifaceted team to deliver engaging, educational experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, science, art, anthropology or other relevant field.
• Two years of teaching or outreach experience; museum or informal learning setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead youth programming including space science themed summer camps.
• Set up planetarium field trips and coordinate with volunteers and docents.
• Schedule field trips and train volunteers for hands-on activities.
• Operate the planetarium system for school shows and present to school audiences.
• Review content options and recommend age-appropriate offerings for youth audiences.
