Butcher N’ Barbeque is seeking an experienced and passionate Pit Master to manage our barbecue operations, ensuring the consistent preparation of high-quality, flavorful meats. The ideal candidate will have expertise in smoking and grilling techniques, a deep understanding of BBQ traditions, and the ability to maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Select and inspect meat cuts for quality.
  • Prepare meats by trimming, seasoning, marinating, or brining according to recipes and standards.
  • Operate and maintain smokers, grills, and other BBQ equipment.
  • Monitor cooking processes to ensure meats are cooked to the correct temperature, flavor, and tenderness.
  • Adjust wood, charcoal, and temperature settings to maintain consistency.
  • Ensure all meats meet quality standards.
  • Manage cooking schedules for peak service times.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff for smooth service and timely orders.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring sanitation and equipment functionality.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management promptly.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Deep understanding of BBQ techniques, smoking processes, and meat cuts.
  • Accuracy and speed in task execution.
  • Excellent communication skills and familiarity with industry best practices.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Preferred: 1 year experience in smoking meats and operating BBQ equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work with varying noise levels.
