Job summary

Allied Engineering and Design is seeking an experienced Piping Designer for its Swedesboro, NJ office in the Energy division. You will join a team of engineers and designers on multiple Oil & Gas & Steel/Aluminum industry projects, contributing to CAD drawings, P&IDs, piping plans, and isometrics.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, lead designers, and field teams, perform QA edits, and support site visits. Proactive problem solving and attention to detail are essential for success in a dynamic,

Qualifications

  • Technical training or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under guidance of PMs/engineers/lead designers.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents (drawings, sketches, 3D representations).
  • Ability to solve problems using sound judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Ability to retain information, procedures for future projects.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD 2D and CAD Worx Plant 3D; Revit and MicroStation are a plus.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Punctual, dependable, detail-oriented, thorough.
  • Develop towards the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Produce construction drawings and plan sets using CAD tools (CADWorx and Plant3D preferred).
  • Prepare P&IDs, piping plans, piping sections, isometrics, BOMs, etc.
  • Collaborate with project team and take on more responsibilities as experience grows.
  • Recommend best use of CAD tools to achieve project objectives and troubleshoot CAD issues.
  • Perform thorough quality control edits of construction documents per standards.
  • Assist on site visits with project/survey team.
  • Demonstrate good character traits and rapport with colleagues.

Job description

We currently have an opening in our Swedesboro, New Jersey office for an experienced Piping Designer in our Energy division. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects for the Oil and Gas & Steel/Aluminum industries. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in coordination with engineers and other designers, produce construction drawings and plan set using computer-aided drafting programs (Experience with CADWorx and Plant3D preferred
  • Completes tasks on projects including preparing P&ID’s, piping plans, piping sections, isometrics, bill of materials, etc
  • Work closely with other members of the project team with a willingness to take on more responsibilities as your experience evolves
  • Work closely with design leads and engineers in recommending the best use of CAD tools to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues with CAD tools
  • Perform thorough quality control edits (red lines) of construction documents as directed by design team and utilizing the correct project and/or company standards
  • Assist on site visits with project/survey team
  • Demonstrate good character traits and rapport with colleagues
Capabilities and Credentials:
  • Technical Training preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under the guidance of project managers / engineers / lead designers.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents such as, drawings, sketches, 3d representations, etc.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Ability to retain information, details, procedures for use on future projects.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, AutoCAD 2D and CAD Worx Plant 3D applications, and other relevant software such as Revit and MicroStation is a plus.
