Job summary

PTS Advance is seeking an experienced Piping Design Technician Specialist to provide technical leadership and QA/QC support on complex industrial projects. You will lead piping design efforts, review layouts and models for safety, compliance, and constructability, and mentor junior designers throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires strong knowledge of ASME and B31.3 piping codes, 3D design experience, and the ability to coordinate scope, schedule, budget, and multi-disciplinary

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting & Design, Engineering Technology, or related technical field.
• 12-15+ years of piping design/engineering experience in complex industrial environments.
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead piping design efforts and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Review piping layouts, models, and deliverables for quality, constructability, and compliance.
• Perform model reviews and identify design risks before construction.
• Support QA/QC activities throughout project execution.
• Coordinate with engineering, design, and project teams to resolve technical issues.
• Review vendor drawings and technical documentation.
• Mentor junior designers and engineers.
• Support project schedules, estimates, staffing forecasts, and change management activities.
• Drive continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and workflows.

Job description

Seeking an experienced Piping Design Technician Specialist to provide technical leadership, piping design oversight, and QA/QC support on complex industrial projects. This individual may function as either a Piping Discipline Lead or Senior Design QA/QC Lead, ensuring piping systems are safe, code-compliant, constructible, operable, and maintainable throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting & Design, Engineering Technology, or related technical field
• 12-15+ years of piping design/engineering experience in complex industrial environments
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards, including ASME and B31.3
• Experience with 3D piping design and model review platforms
• Ability to support scope, schedule, budget, and multidisciplinary coordination
• Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
