Job summary

Energy Transfer is seeking a skilled gas and liquids pipeline technician to repair and maintain pipelines, equipment, and performance of work associated with the operation and maintenance of gas and liquid facilities and pipelines.

The role involves performing maintenance on natural gas pipelines, following safety procedures, and coordinating with project teams. Travel up to 75% with overnight stays; flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required by project demands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Level C requires 0–2 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience.
• Level B requires 2–4 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience.
• Level A requires 4+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience.
• Able to pass DOT drug test and background check.
• Knowledge of basic mechanical systems and troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance activities on natural gas pipelines including anomaly digs, hydrostatic test, in-line inspection tool runs, and pipe replacements/modifications.
• Follow company safety procedures, including PPE use and site-specific procedures.
• Navigate and operate vehicles safely in off-road conditions and heavily congested urban areas.
• Be prepared to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by project demands.
• Communicate effectively with management, project managers and teammates.
• Respond appropriately to changing weather, road, and site conditions.
• Report any vehicle, equipment or job-related issues promptly to manager.
• Plan, organize, and prioritize assigned responsibilities while coordinating work with employees and contractors.
• Coordinate and communicate with outside parties including landowners, public agencies, contractors, utilities, and other pipeline operators.
• Actively participate and provide leadership in safety programs and initiatives and follow policies and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of assigned trucks and equipment.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and ensure the safe operation of equipment and adherence to all DOT regulations.
• Comply with partnership safety policies and procedures.

Required Education

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

• Level C requires a minimum of 0 – 2 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience
• Level B requires a minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience
• Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent work experience

• Proficiency with computers including MS Office applications such as Excel and Outlook as well as other computer based work training, time reporting, expense reporting, and on-line work applications and documentation

Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions

• Work in and around construction settings, which may include hazardous products, processes, materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment

• Work on and around equipment and facilities that require knowledge of and adherence to safe work procedures and practices
• Subject to call-outs to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays
• Reliable attendance at work
• Travel 75%25 of the time staying overnight in a hotel
