Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Manage maintenance pigging program and parts inventory.
  • Support pipeline integrity programs including inspections and corrosion monitoring.

Job Summary

The Pipeline Operations Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pipeline systems and related facilities. This role provides technical expertise for pipeline operations, system optimization, integrity management, maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and asset performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and optimize pipeline system performance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of products.
  • Support daily operations by providing engineering guidance, project management, scheduling support on maintenance activities, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Update and maintain regulatory pipeline records for ongoing operations.
  • Manage the maintenance pigging program. Activities encompass scheduling, validating, inspecting condition and inventory management of pigs and replacement parts.
  • Support pipeline integrity management programs, including inspections, risk assessments, corrosion mitigation, corrosion monitoring and remediation planning.
  • Assist in reliability centered maintenance and asset lifecycle planning activities.
  • Provide operational input to project engineering on pipeline projects, well connects, and pipeline expansions.
  • Investigate equipment failures, incidents, and operational anomalies to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to pipeline reliability and integrity.
  • Work with the system planning group to evaluate pipeline capacity, hydraulic performance, and operating conditions.
  • Participate in hazard analyses, incident investigations, and regulatory audits.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance compliance and operational safety.
  • Review engineering designs, specifications, and construction plans.
  • Conduct hydraulic modeling, pressure analysis, and operational studies.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities.
  • Develop technical reports, engineering calculations, and recommendations.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and metrics to support decision-making.
  • Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in pipeline operations, midstream operations, energy, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of pipeline operations, maintenance, and integrity management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Heavy field-level or direct operations experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, control systems, and operational technology.
  • Familiarity with pipeline regulations and industry standards.
Other Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of pipeline systems, pumps, compressors, valves, and related equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
