Job summary

Kinder Morgan is seeking a Pipeline Integrity Engineer to act as project manager and technical resource for our Products, CO2, and Terminals pipeline systems. You will oversee integrity programs including ILI, ECDA, remediation, anomaly evaluations, and repairs, coordinating with Operations, Engineering, EH&S, and Regulatory teams to ensure safe, compliant operation.

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, this role requires strong project management, technical acumen, and leadership.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

This position manages pipeline integrity programs and projects including in-line inspections (ILI), external corrosion direct assessments (ECDA), remediation activities, anomaly evaluations, and repairs. The role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Regulatory, and other stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of pipeline assets. Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, technical, communication, and leadership skills while supporting regional integrity and facility initiatives.

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, technical, communication, and leadership skills while supporting regional integrity and facility initiatives.

Position level, job title and pay will be determined by candidates’ level of experience and skill.

What You Will Do

The individual must possess project management skills used in developing project documents such as project scope, schedule, budget forecasting, cost tracking/analysis, and risk identification/mitigation. The candidate must be capable of communicating this information using well-developed written and verbal skills. Secondary duties involve multiple small pipelines and facility projects and engineering studies. Daily activities include:

• Manage pipeline integrity projects from planning through execution and closeout.
• Coordinate in-line inspection (ILI), ECDA, remediation, pressure testing, and repair programs.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk mitigation plans.
• Prepare cost estimates, secure project funding, track expenditures, and complete project closeout documentation.
• Manage contractor selection, bid processes, construction activities, permitting, and material procurement.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, EH&S, Accounting, Business Development, Product Movement, Land, Right-of-Way, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with applicable company standards, PHMSA regulations, and industry best practices.
• Provide engineering support for pipeline, facility, measurement, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Balance multiple concurrent projects while adjusting priorities to meet business needs.
• Support investigations, evaluations, and corrective actions related to asset integrity and equipment reliability.

What You Need

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related degree and 2-4 years minimum industry experience depending on degree.
• 2+ years of engineering and/or project management experience in the oil and gas industry.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Demonstrated project management experience including scope development, budgeting, cost control, scheduling, and risk management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with limited supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard business software.
• Employee must be capable of completing and satisfying all training requirements as required by local, state, or federal agencies and/or the Company policy.

Working Conditions

• Office working environment with occasional (25 to 40%) travel to project sites and to other offices across the United States.
• The position frequently works under time constraints to meet deadlines and ensure operational continuity and the candidate must possess the ability and willingness to work extended hours and occasionally weekends.
• This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (Mon.-Wed. in office, Thur. & Fri. at home when travel is not required)
• Requirement to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

Certifications/Licenses/Registration

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to company and its insurer.

Physical Demands

• Effectively work in outdoor climates while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (ex. hardhat, flame resistant clothing, safety glasses, and safety-toed footwear) per location.
• Periodically climb ladders and stairs to elevated platforms/walkways
• Field activities will include assigned work in compressor facilities, on the pipeline right-of-way, and in meter stations.
• Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities and for driving to project sites.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with liquids and CO2 pipeline integrity programs.
• Knowledge of in-line inspection technologies and integrity assessment methods.
• Familiarity with PHMSA pipeline regulations, 49 CFR Part 195, ASME, API, and NACE standards.
• Experience with pipeline remediation, construction, and pressure testing.
• Knowledge of terminals, facility, and measurement operations.
• Root cause failure analysis experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.
• Advanced analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
