Job summary

Jobtailor in Houston is seeking a Pipeline Operator to oversee the safe and reliable operation of the pipeline system, monitor pressures and flows, and adjust flow rates at interconnections to maintain system integrity.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma with related experience or an associate degree with DOT operation qualification, and familiarity with 24/7 shift work. Experience in gas scheduling and control room operations is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ year experience in pipeline operations or control room.
• Associate degree or two-year technical degree with 2+ years in pipeline operations or related field; DOT Operation Qualification.
• Able to work 24/7 with 12-hour rotating shifts (Modified DuPont).
• Basic knowledge of MS Office.
• Energy industry experience in plant, refinery or control room preferred.
• Gas scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and reliable operation of the entire pipeline system.
• Monitor system pressures and flows from receipt points along the pipeline to delivery points.
• Set flow rates and pressure set points at interconnections and delivery points.
• Oversee computer systems and alarms.
• Start and stop engines and pumps remotely to maintain system volume and pressure.
• Make decisions regarding product rerouting and notification during emergencies.
• Receive, screen and route calls from customers and others.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Continuously evaluates system pressures and flows of gas and liquids from receipt points along the pipeline system to delivery points
• Sets flow rates and pressure set points at pipeline interconnections and delivery points
• Oversees computer systems and alarms
• Starts and stops engines and pumps remotely to maintain system volume and pressure
• Carries out decisions regarding product rerouting and appropriate notification during emergency situations
• Receives, screens and routes calls from customers and others
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED and a minimum of one (1) year experience in relevant industry or control room environment
• Associate's Degree or two-year technical degree and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in pipeline operations, gas scheduling, relevant industry or control room environment; Department of Transportation Operation Qualification
• Able to work in a 24/7 environment with 12 hour rotating shift schedules (Modified DuPont)
• Basic knowledge of MS Office applications
• Energy experience in plant, refinery or control room operations preferred
• Previous gas scheduling experience preferred
