Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS is seeking a pipefitter to join the 21 Pipe team. The role involves fitting pipe from steel, galvanized, copper and other materials, using valves and fittings, and reading drawings and blueprints to ensure precise layouts across multiple shifts.

You’ll work in a shipyard environment with safety as a priority and may perform work at various heights and confined spaces. Six months of pipefitting experience is required; NCCER certification and related marine

  • Work across multiple shifts and adapt to changing shipbuilding priorities while maintaining safety standards.

The Role

A pipefitter is responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, copper, copper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fittings, utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawing, arrangements and blue prints. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Pipefitter may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations with safety procedures meeting, and most times, exceeding industry standards.

Must Have
  • 6 months of pipefitting experience
Nice to Have
  • Completed high school or equivalent pipefitting technical program with NCCER certification.
  • 1.5 or more years of marine, shipbuilding and construction experience
  • Experience in layout, fit-up, fabrication and installation of pipe, flanges and valves
  • Read and interpret trade drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
  • Experience in setting and erecting units with proficiency in the use of Datum Lines
  • Familiarity with fit-up, alignment tolerances and advanced blue print reading skills
