Job summary

Innovien Solutions is seeking a Pipefitter/Pipe Welder for the DMV project team (DE, MD, VA). You will install, repair, and maintain steel piping for cooling towers and chillers, performing brazing, soldering, and groove piping on 6"–12" pipe.

You will read blueprints and work on site across multiple projects within the DMV area. You will operate and maintain welding and brazing equipment, tackle small repairs, ensure code compliance, and collaborate with site teams on scheduling and safety.

Qualifications

• Current or expired welding certification for structural or pipe welding.
• 3–5 years as pipefitter/welder in mechanical or HVAC settings.
• Experience with 6"–12" steel pipe fabrication and repair.
• Proficient in brazing and soldering on pipe joints.
• Experience with groove piping systems and related tooling.
• Familiar with cooling towers, chillers or HVAC equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, isometrics, and piping schematics.
• Knowledge of plumbing/mechanical codes and safety standards.
• Ability to work at heights, in mechanical rooms and confined spaces.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, install, and repair steel piping 6"–12" diameter for cooling tower and chiller systems.
• Perform brazing and soldering on copper and steel piping joints per code/specifications.
• Install and maintain grooved‑end piping systems with couplings and fittings.
• Weld steel pipe using TIG, MIG, or Stick as required to meet codes.
• Diagnose and perform small repairs on existing piping systems.
• Read piping diagrams, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
• Cut, thread, bevel, and align pipe for proper fit-up.
• Pressure test completed piping systems for integrity.
• Follow safety protocols including confined space, lockout/tagout, hot work permits, PPE.
• Coordinate with site supervisors on scheduling and repairs.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe, organized condition.
• Document work performed, materials used, and inspection results.

Job description

Innovien Solutions is currently hiring a Pipefitter/Pipe Welder to join the client's Delaware, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) project team. In this role you will install, repair, and maintain steel piping systems supporting cooling towers and chiller units. If you hold current or expired welding certifications and have hands‑on experience fabricating and repairing 6\"–12\" steel pipe — including brazing, soldering, and groove piping systems — this role is right up your alley.

You will be involved in both new installation work and small repair jobs in mechanical and HVAC piping systems. The client offers structured growth in an environment founded on trust and respect. You will be equipped with a company vehicle and servicing a multitude of projects within the DMV area.

PIPEFITTER/PIPE WELDER REQUIREMENTS:

• Current or expired Welding Certification — structural or pipe welding, as applicable
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a pipefitter and welder in mechanical, industrial, or HVAC settings
• Demonstrated experience with 6\"–12\" steel pipe fabrication and repair
• Proven experience with brazing and soldering techniques on pipe joints
• Hands‑on experience with groove and grooved‑end piping systems and associated tooling
• Experience working on or around cooling towers, chillers, or related HVAC mechanical equipment
• Ability to read blueprints, isometric drawings, and piping schematics
• Working knowledge of applicable plumbing and mechanical codes and safety standards
• Ability to work at heights, in mechanical rooms, and in confined spaces as needed
• Valid driver's license required

PLUS SKILLS:

• Additional certifications — such as ASME, UA, or manufacturer‑specific groove piping certifications such as Victaulic
• Experience with copper and dissimilar‑metal piping systems
• Prior experience in commercial or industrial HVAC and mechanical service environments
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

PIPEFITTER/PIPE WELDER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Fabricate, install, and repair steel piping — 6\"–12\" diameter — for cooling tower and chiller systems
• Perform brazing and soldering on copper and steel piping joints per code and manufacturer specifications
• Install and maintain grooved‑end piping systems — including couplings, fittings, and mechanical joints
• Weld steel pipe using appropriate processes — TIG, MIG, or Stick as required — to meet code and quality standards
• Diagnose and perform small repairs on existing piping systems — including leaks, corrosion damage, and worn fittings
• Read and interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, and mechanical drawings
• Cut, thread, bevel, and align pipe to ensure proper fit-up prior to joining
• Pressure test completed piping systems to verify integrity
• Follow all safety protocols — including confined space, lockout/tagout, hot work permits, and PPE requirements
• Coordinate with site supervisors and mechanical teams on project scheduling and repair prioritization
• Maintain tools, welding and brazing equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition
• Complete accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and inspection results
