Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company seeks skilled workers to plan, lay out, install, test and repair piping systems according to plans, specs, codes and industry standards. The role emphasizes reading isometrics, fabricating piping, and ensuring precise welding and assembly.

Candidates should be able to work outdoors in all weather, climb to heights, and operate a range of tools while maintaining safety and quality on complex piping projects. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with experience in the field or related area.
• Strong working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions; communicate effectively with management.
• Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, power and layout tools and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of pipe types and piping systems (butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued, fused).
• Read isometric drawings, take measurements, fabricate and install piping efficiently.
• Align, bolt, and clamp components for welding and secure in position.
• Assemble and secure pipes, fittings, and related equipment by welding and threading joints.
• Position and secure materials during installation per plans and specs.
• Distinguish material thickness and types of metal.
• Manage rigging and manually handle equipment.
• Operate beveling machines, cut-off grinders, pipe threaders, hammers, torches, drills.
• Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, supports.
• Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, time, costs and resources.
• Inspect subordinates' work for contract compliance and correct as needed.

Job description

Plan, lay-out, install, test and repair all types of piping systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Maintain working knowledge of various types of pipe and pipe systems, including butt welded, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued and fused joints
• Reading isometric drawings, taking measurements, fabricating and installing piping efficiently
• Align, bolt, and clamp together components of fabricated metal products to secure in position for welding
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding and threading joints
• Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation; and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications
• Distinguish varying thickness and types of metal materials
• Manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment
• Operate tools and equipment including: beveling machines, cut-off grinders, pipe threaders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, and a Saw-Zall
• Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports
• Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effective with management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools

Requirements

• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
