Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Pipefitter at the Salem VA Medical Center to install, maintain and repair high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems including hydraulic, nitrogen, oxygen, steam heating and steam-generating systems.

The role requires reading blueprints, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring safe operation. Preferred qualifications include a Journeyman plumbing license and Med-Gas certification, with experience in commercial, industrial,

Qualifications

Evidence of training or experience demonstrating ability to perform the duties of this position is required.
Preference for 5+ years in Commercial/Industrial or Hospital settings.

Responsibilities

Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains high temperature water and high-pressure piping systems (hydraulic, nitrogen, oxygen, steam heating, steam generators).
Repairs steam generators, pumps, radiators, valves, and related components.
Reads blueprints and manufacturers’ specifications for sizing, installing, and repairing piping systems.
Performs safety and preventive maintenance inspections of systems and equipment.
Traces and troubleshoots piping lines to locate leaks and ensure proper operation.
Work Schedule: Mon–Fri 7:45am–4:30pm; weekend/holiday availability may be required.
