Job summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks a Pipefitter Helper for a Wilmington, NC project. You will assist skilled pipefitters with installing, cutting, bending, and joining pipe and fittings on industrial facilities.

The role requires attention to safety, ability to read job plans, and physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds. Benefits and PTO are offered after 3 months of employment.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking.
• Complete Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes at all times.

Responsibilities

• Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job plans and specifications.
• Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions.
• Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and conflicts with other workers.
• Cut pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine.
• Thread pipe using threading machine.
• Bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine.
• Assemble and install metal and non-metal pipe and fittings, including brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic.
• Join piping by threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
• Secure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
• Test piping system for leaks by pressurizing and checking gauges.
• May weld hanging fixtures to structural steel members.
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Visualize objects in 3D from plans and drawings.
• Lift and carry objects up to fifty pounds
• Detect and respond to dangerous conditions.
