Job summary

Sundt Construction seeks an experienced pipefitting foreman to lead planning, layout, and performance of diverse pipe fitting tasks in accordance with plans, codes, and standards. You will coordinate crafts, provide resources, and ensure safe, efficient work while aligning with the project schedule.

The role requires strong leadership, deep understanding of drawings (orthographic, isometric, P&IDs), and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four years of experience in pipefitting with deep knowledge of drawings and safety/quality standards.
  • Must lead, motivate, and set excellence standards for crew.
  • Effective verbal and written communication required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, layout, and performance of pipe fitting work per plans and standards.
  • Coordinate craft efforts and provide resources for safe, efficient work.
  • Maintain flow of work and schedule with other foremen/crews.
  • Maintain positive relationships with crews and ensure safety and quality.
  • Attend safety, quality, production, and planning meetings.
  • Conduct crew evaluations and performance tracking.
  • Promote continuous improvement culture across the crew.
  • Ensure accurate time sheets, quantities, and productivity reports.
  • Develop weekly and daily work plans; understand the critical path.
  • Set weekly production goals and deliver on time and within budget.
  • Adhere to company policies and Sundt Way.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to crew members.

Job description

Basic Job Functions

Provide leadership, management, and supervision necessary for the planning, lay‑out, and performance of all types of pipe fitting and fabrication work in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of all craft persons under his/her supervision and provide all resources needed for the work to be done safely, correctly, and efficiently. Work with other foremen or crews to ensure that the work is coordinated and sequenced to assure that the flow of work and the schedule is maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain positive working relationships with other foreman and crews.
  2. Maintain a safe and clean work environment and assure that high quality work is being performed always.
  3. Conduct and/or participate in all safety, quality, production, and planning meetings.
  4. Assure all crew members evaluations/performance agreements are conducted.
  5. Champion and promote a Continuous Improvement culture with all members of the crew.
  6. Assure the accuracy of all time sheets, quantity, and productivity reports.
  7. Develop one-week and daily work plans, provide feedback on the 6-week schedule, and know the critical path.
  8. Establish weekly production goals for the crew and execute the work on time & under budget.
  9. Adhere to and support all company policies, procedures and “The Sundt Way” regarding the work and people you supervise.
  10. Provides appropriate coaching and mentoring for crew members to help them be the best they can be.
Minimum Job Requirements
  1. Must have a minimum of four experience in the relevant market, and have an in-depth understanding of the pipefitter trade and expert knowledge of drawings including orthographic, isometric, P&IDs, specifications, and safety and quality standards.
  2. Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for the members of his/her crew.
  3. Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements
  1. Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  2. Occasionally climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  3. Will lift, push, or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
  4. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  6. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  7. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  8. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  9. Will interact with people frequently during a shift/workday
  10. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
