Qualifications

  • Experience supervising pipefitter crews on plant or construction sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, ISO field installations, and material takeoffs.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work with hand and power tools.

  • Install piping in pipe racks, valves, hangers and supports.
  • Install underground pipe and steam/heat tracing as needed.

Overview

The Pipefitter Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activity of Pipefitter workers to ensure that work is done safely, correctly and timely. Has knowledge of test piping systems, oxygen and acetylene cutting, basic rigging, operation of pneumatic and electric tools, and leak test-tubing systems. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in a plant operations or a construction jobsite setting.

  • Inspect the quality of all work to ensure standards and specifications are met
  • Assist workers in their duties and resolve problems
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations
  • Read and interpret blueprints, ISO's field installations, material takeoffs, field sketches, and understand specifications
  • Study specifications, plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installation
  • Lay out for pipe penetrations
  • Lay out for equipment location
  • Fabricate and install screw pipe, socket weld pipe, stainless tubing, carbon steel weld pipe, stainless steel weld pipe
  • Miter and fabricate pipe
  • Use beveling machine to prepare pipes/tubes for welding
  • Install all sizes of piping in pipe racks
  • Install valves, pipe hangers, and pipe supports
  • Must be able to install all sizes of underground pipe
  • Must be able to install steam and heat tracing
  • Must be able to perform proper bolt up of various sizes on pipe and valve flanges
  • Assist other craft workers as needed
Qualifications
Physical:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Move throughout active construction and project site environments, including areas with uneven terrain, mud, gravel, sand, and other varying surface conditions.
  • Position themselves to inspect work, access materials, equipment, structures, and work areas at ground level, overhead, and in restricted-access locations.
  • Ascend and descend stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and other elevated work surfaces while maintaining safety requirements.
  • Frequently handle, operate, and use hand tools, power tools, equipment, instruments, and materials associated with assigned job duties.
  • Frequently move, transport, position, push, pull, lift, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance or mechanical devices where available.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange information with crew members, supervisors, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others in field and office settings.
  • Understand information presented through written, electronic, verbal, visual, and environmental sources to support safe and effective job performance.
  • Work in a variety of environments, including outdoor settings exposed to heat, cold, rain, humidity, wind, noise, dust, and other weather or site-related conditions.
  • Work in confined spaces, restricted access areas, or elevated locations when required by project needs and in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Perform work activities ranging from sedentary to heavy physical exertion depending on project assignment and operational needs.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with crew members, supervisors, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and others.
  • Read, interpret, apply, and communicate work instructions, plans, specifications, company policies, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
