Job summary

QED Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced pipefitter to join our marine engineering team in Virginia Beach. You will lay out, fit, and install pipefittings, valves, and assemblies from drawings in shop and shipboard environments, and form sub-assemblies as required.

Applicants should have 5+ years of pipefitting experience, an apprenticeship, the ability to read blueprints, and knowledge of brazing and welding; U.S. citizenship and DBIDS eligibility are required, with occasional travel.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings.
• Experience with brazing and welding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, in shop and shipboard environments, and form sub-assemblies, parts, and other shapes per drawings.

• Read blueprints and welding symbols; execute brazing and welding as required.

Job Description: QED Systems, an established marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking qualified individuals experienced in marine mechanical applications. The candidate must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. Candidate must be able to lay out, in both shop and shipboard environments, and form sub-assemblies, parts, and other shapes as required by drawings and sketches. Install and fit parts, assemblies, pipes, fittings and valves.

Salary Range: $22-$35 Hourly

Job Requirements: Experienced (5+ years) Pipefitter with a complete understanding of production processes and specialty trades functions and tools.

The candidate must have experience using hand tools, fixtures, and shop machinery as required.

The candidate must have knowledge and experience in brazing and welding procedures.

The candidate must also be able to read, interpret, and follow blueprints or technical drawings and understand associated welding symbols.

Have completed an apprenticeship program or demonstrate by doing the experience outline above.

All applicants must provide a resume, be eligible for a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential.

Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight will be determined by the specific job but no less than 30 pounds.

Some travel is possible.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma required. Military technical school(s) desirable.

Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
