Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking an experienced Pipefitter for a turnaround in Kingsport, TN. The role involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping and related equipment for steam, hot water, heating, and processing systems.

The position is non-exempt and reports to the Foreman, with per diem available for qualifying individuals. The ideal candidate has 1–4 years of pipefitting experience, can read drawings, and is proficient with power tools and bolting

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent required.
  • 1–4 years of experience in pipefitting depending on level.
  • A-class pipefitters must read field drawings and engineering drawings.
  • Able to connect flanged pipes with cross pattern bolting technique.
  • Able to read a tape measure accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Selects and inspects safety gear; plans installation sequence to avoid obstructions.
  • Cuts, threads, bends, and installs pipes and fittings; joins with various joint methods.
  • Installs refrigeration and air-conditioning piping and tests systems for leaks.
  • Uses power tools (electric, pneumatic, battery) as required.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

We are seeking an experienced Pipefitterfor a turnaround position in Kingsport, TN. The Pipefitter position lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fixtures and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and industrial processing systems. Non-exempt role; Reports to the Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

Essential Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • A-class Pipefitter requires basic knowledge of field drawings, sketches and engineering drawings
  • Have basic knowledge of how to connect flanged pipe connections using a cross pattern bolting technique
  • Be able to read and utilize a tape measure properly
  • Be able to understand and utilize a framing square as it is applicable to pipefitting tasks
  • Must know how to properly utilize power tools to prepare pipe for cutting, welding, threading and bolting
  • A-class pipefitters must be able to make accurate and precise weld connection fit ups
  • Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
Functional Requirements:

Selects and inspects proper safety gear to be used while performing work tasks; selects size and type of pipe and related material according to job specifications; inspects worksites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that creating holes for pipe penetration will not cause structural weakness; plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers; cuts, threads, and bends pipe; assembles and installs a variety of metal and nonmetal pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, glass, and plastic; joins pipe by means of threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints; secures pipe to structure with clamps, brackets, supports and hangers; installs and maintains refrigeration and air-conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping; tests piping system for leaks; utilizes a variety of power tools including but not limited to, electric, pneumatic, and battery powered; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:
