Job summary

Upchurch is seeking a Pipe Welder to perform high‑quality welding on carbon steel piping systems within commercial construction and mechanical projects. The role supports HVAC, plumbing, and process piping by executing safe, precise welds using TIG, Stick, or MIG per project specifications. Candidates should have 3+ years of welding experience, read welding symbols, and pass weld tests.

Qualifications

• 3+ years welding experience in commercial/industrial environments.
• Proven ability to weld carbon steel using TIG/MIG/STICK processes.
• Able to read welding symbols, layout instructions, and simple drawings.
• Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs and working in confined/elevated spaces.
• Willing to pass weld tests as required.

Responsibilities

• Weld carbon steel pipe and structural components per project requirements.
• Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment safely.
• Assist with pipe preparation, grinding, beveling, and fitting.
• Perform tack welding and basic fitting to support installation teams.
• Conduct weld inspections and identify defects for correction.
• Maintain safety standards and use PPE at all times.
• Collaborate with foremen and project teams for efficient workflow.
