Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is seeking a 6G Stick Welder to perform high-quality welds on refrigeration piping and components. The role involves setting up, fitting, and completing welds on critical equipment in a first-shift schedule, Monday to Friday with alternating Saturdays.

You will weld pipes from ¾ to 18 inches, work on compressors, vessels, evaporators, and condensers, and support insulation and painting tasks as needed. A strong emphasis on safety and teamwork is required.

Qualifications

• Must pass a 6G SMAW weld test on 2" schedule 80 steel with 6010 root and 7018 cap, uphill weld.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Familiarity with rigging, torch cutting, grinder and wire wheel operation, leveling, and measurement tools.
• Team-oriented and safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

• Weld pipe from ¾" to 18" diameter, mainly 2"–6".
• Weld runs on critical components such as compressors, vessels, evaporators, condensers, and prefabricated parts.
• Cut, bevel, and fit pipe accurately.
• Set up and perform open root welding (no insert).
• Meet welding productivity targets (e.g., 50 diameter inches in 8 hours).
• Perform load rigging, torch cutting, and leveling with measurement tools.
• Operate grinders and wire wheels.
• Assist shop team with insulation, electrical, and painting tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties on the job site.

Job Role

The 6G SMAW Pipe Welder is responsible for performing high‑quality welds on pipe ranging in size from ¾\" to 18\" (primarily 2\"-6\"). The welder will independently set up, fit, and complete welds on critical refrigeration components such as compressors, vessels, evaporators, and condensers. This position operates on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with alternating Saturdays.

• Cut, bevel, and fit pipe accurately


• Set up and perform open root welding (no insert)


• Achieve welding productivity targets (e.g., 50 diameter inches in 8 hours)


• Perform load rigging, torch cutting, and leveling using measurement tools


• Operate grinders and wire wheels


• Assist shop team with insulation, electrical, and painting tasks as needed


• Perform other duties as assigned on the job site

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a 6G SMAW weld test (2\" schedule 80 steel stick, 6010 root, 7018 cap - uphill weld, 45-degree angle)


• Must pass pre‑employment drug screening and background check


• Familiarity with rigging, torch cutting, grinder and wire wheel operation, leveling, and measurement tools

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 75 pounds occasionally.


• Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods of time.


• Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise).


• Must have the physical stamina to perform repetitive motions and remain on feet for most of the shift.


• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate tools accurately and safely.
